Ball Python Care by the Numbers
This page lists certain figures to keep in mind when caring for your ball python. These numbers vary depending on which source you consult. This page is not intended to be your only resource so be sure to do your research.
Enclosure Sizes
Hatchlings: 6 quart tub or 5 gallon tank (4" x 7" mini heat mat)
Juveniles: 15 quart tub or 10 gallon tank (4" x 7" small heat mat)
Subadults: 32 quart tub or 20 gallon tank (6" x 8" small heat mat)
Large Adults: 60 quart tub or 40 gallon tank (8" x 12" large heat mat)
Temperatures
Ambient temperature (cool side): between 78°F and 80°F (25.5-26.5°C)
Ambient temperature (warm side): between 84°F and 86°F (29-30°C)
Basking spot: between 88 and 92°F (31-33°C)
Humidity
Maintain between 65% and 75% humidity
Prey Size
Width of prey should be 1 to 1 ½ times the ball python's body width
Handling Restrictions
Don't handle for 5-7 days after bringing home
Don't handle for 24 hours before feeding
Don't handle for 48 hours after feeding
